At present I plan to take the 70-200 with a TC-17E, 2 bodies and something else. The 24-120 is an obvious contender but I can find no review which spends more print on good points than it does on bad ones!

Re: Problem with Nikon 24-70mm ED VR. The "less sharp" shot is at 1/500 where VR is unlikely to help with camera shake. When sometimes AF is accurate (first shot) and less sharp (second shot) equipment rarely has an intermittent fault between shots and the problem is usually something else. Need advise. I am going to buy Nikon Z6 Mirroless camera and I already own NIKKOR 24-70mm f/2.8G ED Lens. Should I buy the native Z 24-70mm f/4 S lens ? It is a good price as a kit lens.
