46 posts · Joined 2016. #16 · Aug 3, 2016. I have the Booster Plug on mine and it is like a night and day difference. First two tanks of gas took a 1.6-2.3 mpg hit but this mornings fill up I was actually better than before. 47.69 mpg. Best $150 I have spent for mine so far!
I actually just performed a Google search on "Africa Twin Problems" and found quite a lot of fork seals & DCT problems, some electrical and hard to start issues, some rust and button sticking issues. They are not the Honda XR400 of the ADV world.

Since 2014, I've owned 2 NC750X DCT bikes, a 2019 Africa Twin & now a 2020 ATAS DCT. With my 2019 AT DCT, I found the throttle to be far more sensitive compared to the NC's. After installing the KAOKO throttle control, I realized I could adjust the tension on the control to create braking friction on the throttle at very slow speeds.
Bought ’17 Africa Twin DCT, but it has a dct problem ☹. The dct hesitates to change the gears – in D mode it changes from 1st to 2 gear when the rpm reaches about 3,5-4k rpm. The same fro 2st to 3st gear. Other gears are better, but changing is not smooth – not like clunking noise, bet gears are changing slow, like clutch is slipping a rickyboxer. 49 posts · Joined 2019. #12 · Apr 4, 2021. Maybe not qualified to give an opinion here. (I had a 1990 Transalp and have not ridden an Africa Twin.) My current ride is an "obsolete" 2005 R1200GS, but ya know, it carries its weight low, and the paralever/telelever suspension design truly works.
The first bike chosen was the 2021 Honda Africa, as it already comes equipped with the best engine and gear. Whether dual-clutch gearbox or manual transmission is selected, the bike is the ultimate answer as the descendent of the Dakar winner. The 2021 Africa Twin is priced upwards of $17,119 and is a well-sorted machine for the adventure.

I cannot use the touchscreen method, only through the switchgear. Really a pain. Told it requires a replacement screen and that more and more 20/21 models are coming in with similar issues.
